چکیده

We investigate the properties of single-particle resonances in a nonspherical potential by solving the coupled-channels equations for the radial wave functions. We first generalize the box discretization method for positive energy states to a deformed system. As in the spherical case, we find that the discretized energy is stabilized against the box size when a resonance condition is met. Using the wave functions thus obtained, we then discuss the energy and the radial dependences of scattering wave functions in the vicinity of an isolated resonance. In the eigenchannel basis, where the S-matrix is diagonal, we propose a generalized expression for the factorization formula for the multi-channel wave function. We find that the factorized wave function agrees well with the exact solution inside the centrifugal barrier when the energy distance from the resonance is less than the resonance width. I review how hydrodynamical flow is related to the observed flow in ul-trarelativistic heavy ion collisions and how initial conditions, equation of state and freeze-out temperature affect flow in hydrodynamical models.

An approximate inverse scattering method [5, 6] has been used to construct separable potentials with the Laguerre form factors. As an application, we invert the phase shifts of proton-proton in the S0 and P2 − 3 F2 channels and neutron-proton in the S1 − 3 D1 channel elastic scattering. In the latter case the deuteron wave function of a realistic np potential was used as input.

There has been a discrepancy between values of the pion-nucleon sigma term extracted by two different methods for many years. Analysis of recent high precision pion-nucleon data has widened the gap between the two determinations. It is argued that the two extractions correspond to different quantities and that the difference between them can be understood and calculated.

Random interactions are used to investigate to what extent the low-lying behavior of even-even nuclei depend on particular nucleon-nucleon interactions. The surprising results that were obtained for the interacting boson model, i.e. the dominance of ground states with L = 0 and the occurrence of both vibrational and rotational structure, are interpreted and explained in terms of a mean-field an...
